Members of the IWG gain access to information, workshops, and roundtables. Members get a “seat at the table” and thus a chance to influence and actively participate in shaping the future of geothermal energy development, through transnational actions, e.g., through CET Partnership and GEOTHERMICA Initiative, as well as interaction with the European Commission. The IWG draws on experience from international initiatives in the sector including ETIP-Geothermal, EGEC, and EERA Joint Programme Geothermal Energy. Membership is open to national and regional governments and pan-European geothermal organisations.
